Analysis of molecular networks is a growing interdisciplinary area, ignited advances in experimental biology that yielded new data on gene and protein interactions. Making sense of these large and complex datasets is among the foremost problems in modern biology. It has been recognized, that by studying the topology of biological networks, we can extract information that cannot be extracted from traditional data sequencing. By integrating theories and methods from computer science and mathematics with biological knowledge and data, this Research Project contributes to our understanding of the complex biological wiring of cellular networks. We are developing sophisticated new computational graph analysis tools for deciphering large biological network datasets, thus substantially extending earlier results by the Project Leader. This Project is conducted in collaboration with bio-tech company DiaGenomi, whose role involves experimental testing of our methods. Our findings might provide the framework for disease re-classification based on novel network-biology results. Additionally, our results will contribute towards improving therapeutics, with a potentially large impacts on public health.
